Sarah’s first blog

Hello!  I don’t really know where to start with my first ever blog but I suppose just telling you a bit about me and what I do is a good a place as any!  I’m Sarah and I am one of the Senior Event Managers at The Conference People.  Like Penny I love to travel the world seeing the sites and meeting the locals and I am fortunate enough to be in a job that lets me do that.  I manage a wide variety of events from 3 days in a church in Italy with military specialists to a one day conference teaching dentists about BoTox!!

I am currently working on the first national Creative Partnerships event taking place in Manchester at the end of November.  Creative Partnerships work towards promoting creativity in schools through various projects across the country (www.creative-partnerships.com).  It’s a really exciting project involving a conference for 800 and an exhibition for 50 exhibitors in their own personal inflatable pods (known as an Office in a Bucket! www.inflate.co.uk).    Creative Partnerships were keen to involve as many young people in the project as possible, which they are doing in a variety of ways - interviewing speakers, designing the menus, filming delegates’ opinions of the conference and exhibiting local photography. I’ll let you know how we get on after 28 November and report back on whether the phrase ‘never work with children or animals’ is true!

All this certainly keeps us busy in the office so you would think I would take it easy when I get home.  But no!  I love going to gigs - the latest being Jarvis Cocker of Pulp fame at Concorde 2 in Brighton.  It was great seeing the man in the flesh in a small venue after spending a lot of my uni days listening to Pulp!  He’s such an entertainer but to be honest the songs need a bit of livening up!  My boyfriend and I spend a lot of time in Brighton and our next project is to move over there from Eastbourne.  We’ll keep you up-to-date on the saga of dealing with agents and mortgage advisers! (How exciting I hear you cry!)

Well…better get on with getting Creative Partnerships organised - does anyone know where I can source 20 water coolers!

Be in touch…..xx
