Hungarian Style

Well February wasnt a great start for myself, as I was one of the many Eastbournians that caught the cold/sore throat & ear infection, but I had to desperately try and get myself better before my trip to Budapest.  A improved but not full recovery was made on the day apart from my earache which the flight in the end sorted out in a very painful way!

We arrived in Ferihegy airport Budapest late afternoon and made our way to the 5 star Hilton Budapest Castle District www.budapest,hilton.com , it was about a 30-45 minute journey, my first impressions of Budapest was it was like being in London (well the traffic side of things). Upon our arrival we were greeted by the hotels doormen and showed us to reception, we were taken to our room on the second floor and our room had the best view of the Fishermans Bastillion, River Dannube & the Houses of Parliment…..what a fab view to wake up to every morning!!

Our four days consisted of shopping in Buda & Pest, eating and drinking Hungarian style, ice skating, well watching as there wasnt any railings to grab on too around the rink.  We also took at night at the Opera to see Mozarts Cose Fan Tutte at the Hungarian State Opera House www.opera.hu , we didnt understand a thing but it was worth a visit just to see its stunning archtecture and its 3 ton chandelier.

The transport system in Budapest is by far the best and easiest ive experienced, all means of transport was constant and we didnt have to wait around for the next bus/tram/underground train to arrive, most of the citys sites are easy accessable by them.

On our last day at the hotel, the lobby area was covered with Paperatizzi, so we had to ask reception if anyone special was arriving, we was told that Daryl Hanna (the lady who was the mermaid in the film) was staying at the hotel, we immediately got our cameras out and suddenly became part of the paperatizzi crowed, we did get a picture of Daryl but with her permission of course!!!!!!!!!

All in all we had a great time and Budapest is most definitely a place that i would go and visit again!!
