Work Experience at The Conference People

Hello, my name is Lucy and I’m currently undergoing work experience here at The Conference People. I come here every Tuesday and I’m presently only on my third day but am already enjoying the experience very much and have learnt a great deal from those in the venue finding, event management and sales department.

Alongside this I am also studying for a Personal Assistants Diploma at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne, the course is a year long and ends in June, it is helping me to gain advanced office skills as well as a BTEC in business administration. http://www.sussexdowns.ac.uk/xpurpose/course.asp?id=626

I have been keen to enter into the events industry for a while now, and not really knowing which route to take I began the process of applying for university for a degree in International Event Management at Brighton. http://courses.brighton.ac.uk/course.php?cnum=884

I gained an unconditional offer to get onto the course, and at around the same time Robert Enefer got in touch with my tutor enquiring whether anyone would be interested in experiencing his company…it’s times like that you feel perhaps fate really does play a part in life!

But now I’m back to square one, pondering which route is best to take, three more years of studying, with coursework, exams and not forgetting massive debt at the end? Or entering into the world of full time work, no more six week holiday in summer, half terms or lazy days with only an hour or so of lectures to attend? For now anyway I’m keeping my options open and am very much embracing the opportunity I’ve been handed and I’m fully ready and keen to learn everything I can about this exciting industry. Hopefully I’ll be writing again soon to talk about what I’ve been doing here at The Conference People.
