I thought I would write a blog this week as we have just come back from a very hectic but fun weekend at Centreparcs in the heart of Sherwood Forest www.centreparcs.co.uk.
We followed the AA route map service right from our door step to the entrance of the Centreparcs complex and we arrived without any hiccups!! www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp
We were given a villa that was adapted for a disabled guest and I have to say it seemed to fit every criteria. One of the bathrooms had a fully adapted shower unit with grab rails by the toilet and pull cords. One of the bedrooms was also fully adaptable for the disabled traveller. They certainly had done their homework! The villa itself looked over the lake and every morning we were greeted at the front door by the swans and the ducks wanting their morning feed!
The swimming complex was fantastic – the children loved going down all the slides and even though I was not keen, they were good fun! They also have these cool life jackets that are free to use for all the younger children.
On Mothers Day we had a carvery in Hugo’s Restaurant – The children had a great time in the play area while we sat and had a gorgeous lunch. The food was delicious – I am always a bit hesitant when it comes to carvery’s but we had the choice of turkey or beef and it was all cooked to perfection!
Do I think this would be a good venue for a Conference or Team Building Event? I think for a conference, it probably wouldn’t be ideal as its full of families and young children but for a team building event, there is a huge amount of different activities for all age groups.
The only down side to the weekend is the cost! Not only do you have to pay a huge amount of money for the villa, apart from the swimming pool, everything else is then an additional cost! I do think you probably could go abroad cheaper!!!!
But on a happier note, the children thought it was fabulous and enjoyed every minute of it, even though I need another holiday to recover!! My bottom is still sore from all the cycling!!!!
