On Wednesday 7th November, The Conference People ran the Look at the Landscape event for the Arts Council England. This was a fantastic event to work on for a positive cause with an excellent venue.
Look at the Landscape was the national event for the Arts Council England’s Cultural Hubs programme, through which Arts organisations, libraries, museums, archives and schools in Telford, Durham and Bournemouth & Poole are developing a cultural offer for children and young people (http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/publications/publication_detail.php?browse=title&id=515&page=6). The conference provided a space for partners in Cultural Hubs to network and to be inspired by the work of the Hubs by sharing and celebrating fantastic projects, partnerships and practices and their impact on young participants, teachers and partner organisations.
The event was held at the London Symphony Orchestra’s venue, St Luke’s http://lso.co.uk/lsostlukes/ . LSO St Luke’s is a fantastic gem hidden away amongst the plethora of Central London conference venues. The building was originally an 18th Century Hawksmoor church, and is now a grade I listed building that has been restored in a slick contemporary style, but still maintaining many original features. The high spec design juxtaposed with the beautiful historic stonework has lead to LSO St Luke’s being described by journalists as ‘the coolest venue the capital has to offer’.
The event was very successful in achieving its aims and was a great day for all involved. The Conference People look forward to continuing to build on the excellent relationships with Arts Council England and LSO St Lukes.
