Great to see Pontins announcing today that they will create 2,000 new jobs in the Uk and spend £50m on developing their current sites. Although I’ve been under the impression that UK tourism has been suffering for a few years, a combination of a strong Euro and less disposable income will be a boost for the UK Tourist Industry as holidaymakers decide to stay at home (or have a “staycation” as I keep hearing it called!!!).

A similar effect may well be seen now in the events industry, with hotels and conference venues in the UK winning business that in previous years has been going to venues in popular conference destinations such as Barcelona, Rome, Paris and further afield increasingly to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Our free venue finding team have reported an increased interest in UK conference venues, particularly venues in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The Conference People are happy to work all over the world, but right now, for the first time in many years the UK is a good value conference destination.
