Welcome back!

My 2007 started in the same way as Nicola’s on Brighton seafront jumping up and down to Fatboy Slim. I did manage to stay until the end to get my money’s worth but I think my clothes have only just dried out! The event was a great example of how large outdoor events can be run safely and efficiency with the co-operation of the local authorities, emergency services and Fatboy Slim’s events team, although I did have to queue at the bar for 40 minutes! As an event manager it was great to see such a successful event and in our local area as well.

My year is going to be as busy as ever with my diary already booked up with events in Amsterdam, Munich and Buxton!! My first planning meeting is in Bakewell for the Peak District National Park Authority. We are involved in the organisation of the National Parks Conference 2007. Not only is it an interesting event to run, it also means that I get to spent time in the beautiful Peak District and of course sample the famous Bakewell Tart! You’d be amazed how many types of Bakewell Tart there are! (www.bakewelluk.co.uk for more information on the area).

That’s it for now. Here's to a great 2007!
