I wish you all a Happy New Year or as we would say it "Ein frohes neues Jahr".
I went home to Germany for Christmas and New Year’s Eve to see my family and friends. It was a bit different this year, because my English boyfriend came with me. I wanted to show him a great German Christmas! As you probably know, we celebrate Christmas on the 24th instead of the 25th. So, we have our presents earlier then you, haha.
We had a really fantastic time. It was very funny, because of the language difficulties (my boyfriend’s German hardly exists and my parents’ English is ok), which led to a few misunderstandings. It was actually most of the time just funny for me, to be honest. My Dad’s favourite thing to do when he didn’t know the English word was to use the German word with an English pronunciation. Very funny for me, because I knew what he meant, but also very irritating for my boyfriend who hadn’t got an idea what my father meant.
We spent New Year’s Eve with English (!!!) friends in Hamburg. It is the best City in the world. Forget Paris, New York or London, come to Hamburg!!! The atmosphere in the city is amazing, the people are very friendly and there are lots of things to do. From the harbour, which is the 8th biggest in the world, to the Reeperbahn, one of the most famous streets in the world, to fantastic restaurants, bars, pubs or shops. Have a look on the website www.hamburg.de . By the way, Germanwings offers cheap flights…
On New Year’s Day we flew back to England, but I went back to work on the 3rd, which gave me a day to relax.
At work I am writing an assignment about my Internship here at The Conference People. The theme of the assignment is the comparison of the theory and practise of event management by using the Exciting Minds Conference in Manchester as a case study.
Will tell you more about it soon
