Berlin is the capital and largest city in Germany, by both area and population. Whilst it’s almost impossible to not link Berlin to WWII, the city is so much more than that. Berlin has a rich and diverse culture, its the third most popular European city after London and Paris and attracts over 12 million visitors a year!
And it’s easy to see why people flock to the city – with an eclectic nightlife, hotels to suit every budget, museums and castles – there is something for everyone.
If it’s a hotel you’re looking for, then Berlin has so many to choose from – including all the big names you’d expect in a city like Berlin. Kempinski, Sofitel, Hilton, Intercontinental, Marriott and a Grand Hyatt to name just a few. There’s also a good selection of budget hotels.
One of our favourite Berlin hotels is the Estrel Berlin and the adjoining Estrel Congress Centre. The hotel has 1,125 bedrooms, four restaurants, three bars and a summer garden. The Congress Centre has over 75 conference rooms, the largest two of which can accommodate up to 5,000 guests in each! It’s a really popular event hotel, and with those spaces and that many bedrooms it’s easy to see why!
For something a little unusual and with stunning views over the city, then how about 217FT? The venue is located on the 19th floor, which is 217 feet high. With two halls, a bar area, a fireplace room and two additional meeting rooms – the largest space can seat up to 120 guests theatre style.
How about something with some industrial charm? Set in a listed former warehouse, the Westhafen Event and Convention Centre (WECC) is right by the water and with excellent transport links. The venue has 11 meeting spaces, over 2,800m2 with the Large Hall accommodating 1,000 guests theatre style.
Getting around Berlin is easy, using both the SBahn the UBahn, trams and buses. Berlin has a very efficient and cost effective public transport system.
